Hedge Trading On The Forex Currency Market

Trading on the forex currency market can be a volatile yet exciting form of investment and certainly has the potential of bringing vast rewards if done so properly.

However it should be accepted that forex currency trading could also be a very risky investment as the market can swing both in an upward and downward movement in a split second depending on the market conditions. Some people, and indeed institutions, try to control these volatile market swings by hedge trading their investments.

For instance it is possible with some forex trading systems to hold both a long and short position on a currency pair, which means that you have both bought a lot of currency with a view to profiting from the rise and the fall of a currency pair.

For example a currency pair could be the Great British Pound as related in value to the US Dollar or GBP/USD, and the rise in this market would be referred to as a long position as opposed to a fall in this currency market, which would be referred to as a short position.

In practice what this would mean is that either way the market moves you are gaining on one position while you lose the equivalent amount on the other position.

The net result of this on first sight would suggest that you cant particularly loss money but also you cant gain any money so how can this be of any particular use in an effort to successfully trade on the forex.

Well of course no money can be made until you close one of the positions, which would be the one that is losing money while leaving the other currency position open that is gaining profit to move further and gain you an overall profit.

You could for example close the losing position at a 20 pips loss and then close the profiting position at a 40 pips gain, giving you an overall profit of 20 pips.

Pips are the single value point movement of the currency and where the GBP/USD moves from 1.8800 to 1.8840 would be a 40 pips difference.

It should be remembered of course that a currency pair could well move in one direction and exceed your 20 pips level to close the position but then reverse in direction and never reach your targeted gain level of 40 pips so even hedge trading is not a guarantee of certain success.

The 20 pips loss level and 40 pips gain level are only used here as an example and if you use this method of trading you would be well advised to set your own levels that you feel are right and acceptable to your own currency trading experience and acceptable risk strategy.

All that can be said is that it does offer an alternative method of currency trading but should still be ventured into with predetermined loss limits and careful study of the currency market.

How to Choose a Tree Service

I have been in this business 8 years now and so have gained an insiders perspective on the tree care industry. In addition to our own booming little tree business I have been a climber for about 20 different companies. Some people say I was on the bounce. I was kind of a mercenary tree guy. Most of my climbing experience has been in Arizona, California and Hawaii. It has been a great way to travel! California and Hawaii definitely have some huge trees but Arizona has a few as well. So, in no particular order here are some thoughts on how to choose a tree company. First of all, lets clear up this Certified Arborist myth.

I am a Certified Arborist and I pride myself a little in that. Unfortunately, Certified Arborist means little if it is only a codeword for salesman. The lions share of tree work is accomplished by someone who is not a Certified Arborist and with no Certified Arborist on sight. One might argue that the the guy with the clipboard, the arborist, has been doing some training with the non arborists, and therefore they have a better product. This is hard to verify and, from what I have seen, generally not the case. They probably havent been training at all. Having a Certified Arborist available while the job is being done is very important to the end result. It doesnt really matter if a company has Certified Arborists if they are not available to the customer.

A key point is whether the salesman/arborist speaks the same language as the non-arborists. The language barrier between English and Spanish speakers is a pretty high wall in some cases. I speak Spanish yet I have a hard time communicating technical details critical to safe tree work. I side with the Spanish speaking worker here because they are the ones who can be hurt if training is lacking. Make sure there will be someone on your job who speaks English in addition to any Spanish speaking workers.

There is much risk involved in picking up the phone book and calling the tree service with the biggest, most colorful ad. Many companies with strong ethics and customer satisfaction hardly advertise at all. You dont need to rule out the big ads, but make sure there are other criteria that go into choosing a tree service. Traditionally the Better Business Bureau has been a good resource for the consumer, however I am aware of one member tree service that currently has had 39 complaints in the last 36 months. Wow, thats service. Our company, Arboreal, has 0 complaints in the past 6 years.

There are a lot of other companies with the same good track record. As of this writing the best resource available to any consumer looking to hire a tree service is angieslist.com. Right now I believe it is temporarily free to join and it provides a wealth of information on local service providers from roofers to tree services to computer repair. You cant really outwit Angies list if you are lacking in ethics. She will catch you and make you pay. Arboreal takes care of clients and angieslist.com keeps track of how well. The one and only drawback to Angieslist.com is that at some point she will also make the consumer pay. The $50 annual she may soon charge could save you thousands.

The last point I would like to go over is that of the hard sell. So you think used car salesman can be pushy? If someone is invited to your house and tries to pressure you into deciding now, signing now, or well do the work right now then you have a moral obligation to send them on their way. In short, dont support a business that has only their own best interest at heart. Take your time in choosing an arborist and hang on to him if he takes care of you.

1. Get estimates from Arborists certified by the International Society of Arboriculture.
2. Make sure the Certified Arborist will be on the job while the work is being performed.
3. Make sure the Certified Arborist can comunicate effectively with his workers.
4. Spend some time researching through arizonabbb.org and angieslist.com

You shouldnt have to do this research too often. Find the company you like and hang on to them.
